Two ways to power level in WoW
Power leveling by grinding or power leveling by questing? That is the question but what is the answer. Well for me there is only one which will become clear as you keep reading my article. To power level by grinding or by questing all the way to level 70, the opinion given by most gurus and black economist is that, hands down, grinding is the quickest and most worth while way to level up in World of Warcraft. At least that is their opinion which I and others do not share - and I tried both.
What is grinding first of all. Grinding the way I understand it, and I am pretty sure I do, is the process of killing monsters in the game to gain experience points (abbreviated as XP in most world of warcraft guides and in the game) that progress you from one level to the next till you hit the maximum level which is 60 for the normal game or 70 if you upgrade to the Burning Crusade. Also as you kill monsters and loot, you gain drops to sell or to equip your character which also helps you level up faster as your character becomes stronger and stronger.
Grinding sounds great till you try it. It is, without question, really, really boring! However the gurus will advise that this is the quickest way to reach the end game parts of the game accessed by levelling up to level 60 or 70, and to gain the best equipment (if you are lucky) and make money when you sell those green, blue and even rare epic purple items which random mobs can have but it''s more of a lottery than a certainty that they do. Power leveling by questing is argued to be far slower and does not yield as much booty. In fact this is wrong on both counts. If you get the right guide that gets rid of the fluff, like quests that take too long or are very hard to complete and - this is very important - you sequence them in such a way that every time you start a new one you hand in several without going from one end of Azeroth to the other, then the XP really mounts up and much faster than by grinding. I have power levelled my way once using the horde guide I recommend below and doing my second character was much much faster, easier and even more fun to do. While doing so I also did a few of the instances where I gained valuable blue and purple objects that I was able to equip my character and sell at the auction house in Orgrimmar. Also I found it easier the second time round because my first character was a warrior which are notorious for their fatality rate if you don''t equip them properly; which I wasn''t, but I was still able to move ten times faster than I was before I bought the guide, and found the game that much more fun. Beforehand, I was getting stuck finding the locations hidden in this or that valley or cavern and not knowing how to kill some tricky monsters. Now I''m pretty sure that third time round I will probably be able to take my character round in 2 or 3 days played and have time to power level a couple of my friends at the same time. You could do that grinding I guess but how boring...
So there you have it, if you don''t like playing the game and enjoy sitting for hours killing the same monster over and over till you need to move to another location to kill more monsters over and over in order to level up then, by all means, grinding might be your thing. If however you like to have fun, advance from location to location killing monsters, solving problems, playing with your friends and new friends you meet in the game by starting and finishing quests like the game is supposed to be played then you owe it to yourself in looking at power leveling guides to show you how to do it by questing.
So, do you power level your World of Warcraft character by grinding or do you power level by questing?
